What Do We Believe?
The Scriptures The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason. Romans 15:4; II Timothy 3:15-17 The Trinity There is only one God yet eternally existing in three separate and distinct Persons; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - equal in power and glory. Genesis 1:26; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14 The Person and Work of Jesus Christ We believe in the deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father. John 11-3; Acts 2:22-24; Romans 5:1; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 9:22; 1 John 2:1 The Sovereignty of God God's loving authority is evident in our lives, especially in the work of our salvation. John 15:16; Romans 8:28-30; Philippians 2:13 The Abundant Christian Life It is characterized by joy in Jesus, repentance of sin and progressive sanctification. John 15:11; Acts 2:38, 46; Philippians 2:12-13; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 John 1:6-10 The Gifts of the Holy Spirit The infilling and gifts of the Hoy Spirit, as promised by the Lord Jesus, are available to all believers today. John 7:37-39; Acts 1:8; 2:39; 1 Corinthians 12-14 The Ordinances The Lord Jesus gave the Church only two ordinances: water baptism and communion. Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 The Blessed Hope We believe in the visible and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 1 John 3:1-2 The Coming Judgments The Bible states there truly is life after death, eternal glory in the presence of God for the saved and eternal torment for the lost. 1 Corinthians 15:50-57; 2 Corinthians 5:9-10; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; Revelations 20-22 |
